Elliptical Anode Furnace
In order to fullfil the increasing requirements of the pyrometallurgical processing of copper in the primary and secondary industry, MAERZ developped the "Elliptical anode furnace". This furnace is able to treat 100 % solid, 100 % liquid input as well as a mixture of both. The main feature of the cylindrical furnaces is its elliptical shaped end walls.
In the period of melting, dissolving and keepingwarm, improved heat transfer conditions are achieved due to its lying elliptical shape by providing a lower bath height and larger bath surface. After rotating the furnace into refining, slag-skimming and casting position, optimized metallurgical treatment and homogenization conditions are achieved due to its standing elliptical shape by providing a higher bath height and smaller bath surface.
